Marriage is seen as a gift from God and a means of sanctification, where both partners grow in their faith and their love for God and each other. It is a lifelong commitment based on faith, love, and mutual respect, and is a reflection of God's love for his people.

We would love to help you to marry here if we can. You may be married in a service at St Mark’s church if:

  • One of you has been baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish
  • One of you has ever lived in the parish for six months or more
  • One of you has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more
  • One of your parents has lived in the parish for six months or more during your lifetime
  • One of your parents has regularly attended public worship here for six months or more in during your lifetime
  • Your parents or grandparents were married in the parish

You can find out if St Mark's is your parish church using the website https://www.achurchnearyou.com/ or email the church office.

We are pleased that General Synod in February 2023 agreed to offer clergy a variety of flexible ways to affirm and celebrate same-sex couples in church, including prayers of dedication, thanksgiving and for God’s blessing after civil marriage or partnership. We look forward to being able to celebrate God's love for, and acceptance of, every person when the prayers are issued. Until then, if you would like to discuss receiving affirming and joyful prayer as a same-sex couple, please contact us.

If you have any questions about getting married at St Mark’s please contact the church office or email us

You will find a form with all the information we will need for you to get married here. The Vicar will discuss the details with you. Please download, complete and return to the church office (or you can email the office and we will send you one).
