You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead

Once upon a time there was only one television channel available – from the BBC. Then commercial television appeared, and now there is a bewildering list of many, many channels. It seems to me that one thing they all have in common is – willingness to give us advice!

There’s advice about politics, personal relationships, weight loss, fitness, food, child rearing, and finance – all for free! Some of the advice is good, but some is worth precisely what you pay for it!

Yet despite all this daily ‘wisdom’, people don’t seem to be acting any wiser. Politicians continue to sound like politicians (“I want to make this absolutely clear”). The divorce rate continues to rise; obesity is a massive problem (sorry about that) and personal debt is rampant.

Some would say that the foolishness of mankind is becoming more evident. In the Bible, the Book of Proverbs contains a vast amount of timeless wisdom. Proverbs 16 is especially rich in content and verse 3 is one of the key thoughts of the Bible:
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”

All success is based on what part God has in your plans and how you have looked to Him for wisdom.

Do you seek to know what God wants you to know? Conveniently, Proverbs has 31 chapters, so you could try reading one chapter each day, with the chapter corresponding to the date. God wants you to know His wisdom. It’s in His book.

“As water reflects a face, so your heart reflects you” (Proverbs 27: 19.)
