ST. MARK
We usually pay so little heed to our patronal festival because it usually gets missed in the aftermath of Easter. This year it actually falls on a Sunday, April 25th. So let us celebrate St. Mark, who was one of the younger followers of Jesus.
It was probably he who led the disciples to the Upper Room for the Last Supper, and, no doubt against his mother’s orders, crept out and followed Jesus and the others to the Garden of Gethsemane, who wrote the second gospel with Peter’s memories added to his own, and who became a missionary first with Paul and later with Barnabas. We believe he gave his life witnessing for his Lord.
