A small but very important room!
Our small group is the proud owner of a twinned toilet!! We wanted to do something specific to help people in need so decided to raise the £60 needed to ‘Buy a Bog in Burundi’ via CORD, a local Christian relief charity. We sometimes spend a social evening eating curry together so over 2 curry nights we raised the money, with £17 excess. The first night we got take-away instead of going out and gave the difference to the fund. The second night we found a curry house giving 30% discount so again gave the money saved.
We now have a certificate of ownership and are able to pinpoint the location of the loo on google maps, right in the heart of Africa. We transfer the certificate between our houses depending on who is hosting our group evening and it may appear in church before long! We have decided to buy a tap for £30 as our next project so are currently planning this.
