SMALL GROUP NEWS: LENT ‘09
One of the themes that emerged from our Prayer Day in January was “Going out into the community”. During Lent, we are being encouraged in our small groups both to reflect and reach out to others: reflecting on what Christ went through in preparation for his ministry on earth and reaching out by considering ways in which we may serve others and witness to his ministry and salvation in the period before the celebration of the climax of His Life at Easter – through the cross and resurrection.
There will not be small group notes but a call to pray and choose an activity that we can initiate or be a part of during this important time. In the February magazine, Ruth Smith produced a list of the topics being covered in the Churches Together, Leamington-wide Lent groups. A number of our small groups are choosing to use this material in conjunction with other practical activities, for example
helping with San Marco’s;
holding a supper party for neighbours, or for those not currently involved in church;
carrying out a Prayer Walk in the local area.
If you would like to be part of our “reaching out” and are not already linked to a group, do contact one of the leaders (see the Small Group Notice Board at the back of church or contact the Church Office for details) or the co-ordinators.
