Prayer and Pastoral Care at St Mark’s
2008 started with a day of prayer for our church, with times of worship, listening to God and reporting back what we felt God was saying.
Daily Prayer Monday: Friday 2.00 to 2.30pm. All are welcome to join the staff team who take it in turn to lead these times of prayer for all aspects of life and work at St Mark’s and in our community. Weekly Intercessory prayer in the Sunday services continues to cover a broad base of issues including those in special need. Thank you to all who lead in this way.
There have been opportunities to share how God is at work in our lives, particularly in the evening services. It is so good to hear these encouraging testimonies.
Regular meetings when the whole church can come together for worship and prayer are held twice a term on a Wednesday evening. Check church diary for dates.
Prayer ministry continues to be offered as part of each and every service as well as being an integral part of Small Group life. It is good to see people praying with each other spontaneously at the end of services; after all we are encouraged to, ‘Pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
The ‘Power Hour’ is a weekly time of prayer for our church life. A small but very dedicated group pray for:
- All who lead our church in any way
- People in special need, including any prayers left on the prayer boards
- Events going on in the church
- Our community.
All are most welcome to join this time of intercession which takes place every Monday afternoon from 2.45 to 3.30pm at Eversleigh Nursing Home.
There is a prayer board at the back of church for prayer requests, please write your prayer on the board. It will then be prayed by the Power Hour Team. In addition I have organised teams of people who are willing to give prayer support at short notice and in the longer term to those in particular need.
