Magazine for April 2011

Parish Pump

Being a report on proceedings at the PCC meeting on 21st March 2011.

Our present PCC met for the last time on 21st March. As usual the March meeting is much concerned with the accounts, prior to the Annual Parish Meeting.

We owe such a great debt of gratitude to Tony Parsons for the hours he has spent producing them, for his skill and care, and for his wisdom. We agreed that as a response to God’s great, unstinted blessing to us, our tithing should be on our gross income.

Good news: it is hoped to finish the church lavatories in the very near future.

Bad news: the new heating in the chancel is causing problems in the organ chamber.

Good news: the worship training day on March 5th was greatly appreciated.

Good news: there are many plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of our Cathedral in 2012.

Good news: Many replies have been received about the Vision Statement.  There is still time for  comments, and Paul is arranging a group of about six to implement it.

Good news: the Gilbert Scott Trust is planning to put a memorial plaque in memory of the late Glen Hales, whose dedication to the maintenance of the fabric of the church was quite exceptional.

For more news, don’t miss the APCM on Sunday 10th April at 12 noon, and vote for members of our next PCC.
