LENT JUSTICE

Some of our Small Groups have been following the Churches Together Lent Study Course from the Leprosy Mission.

One week’s study was on Affluence: quite appropriate for the credit crunch and bankers’  bonuses.  A quotation from Archbishop Camara of Brazil was particularly challenging:
“When I gave food to the poor I was called a saint.
When I questioned why there were so many poor people I was called a communist”

Yes ,we give to the poor. Is that enough? Justice is so much harder, more controversial. We get into the realm of politics. Pray for our politicians and for the G20 summit.

“What does the Lord require of you, but to do justly,
and to love mercy, and to walk humbly
with your God”

(Micah 6: 8 )
