Magazine for May 2011
From the Church Office
It was good to see so many people coming together on Easter Day to worship God. The season of Easter lasts for 50 days and there is plenty of opportunity to keep celebrating Jesus’ gift of new life to us.
The Vision Statement recently produced by St Mark’s Church Council outlines our commitment ‘To deepen the worship life of the church’. Looking ahead to the services and events in May there are lots of opportunities for worshipping in a variety of ways:
- We are invited to worship with Peter and Emma on 14th May at their wedding ceremony, with many talented musicians taking part. The ramble on 7th May is a great way of celebrating God’s creation and for inviting friends along.
- The Mothers’ Union members of our deanery are all coming together for a special celebration service at Whitnash on 17th May – everyone is welcome to join with them.
- Come along to St Mark’s church lunch on Sun 29 May, a great way to spend time sharing with people from all 3 congregations.
- If you enjoyed the Holy Week meditations why not try the regular churches together Taizé service in St Peter’s hall on Thurs 12 May, 8.00pm (and every month on the second Thursday).
And if you like to worship by serving others come and help welcome and serve refreshments to some of the local people visiting our premises to vote on 5th May. Lucy Aghoghogbe, 883259, would love to hear from you.
Our Vision Statement also reflects our commitment to children and families. 5th May marks the next step in our joint venture with National Childbirth Trust when a new regular Bumps and Babes session starts in the afternoon with a breastfeeding counsellor available. After a successful launch Tots Praise meets again in church on 6th May at 11.00 am and another trip to Xcite is scheduled for 21st May.
If you have not yet returned a Vision Statement feedback form, please do so – they are still available at the back of church.
