Conference 2011 Report

Over 70 Readers gathered at St John's Westwood for the annual AGM and Conference on May 20th and 21st. The theme was 'You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.'

Bishop John led a quiet evening retreat on Friday, followed by Compline, which were both well received.

On Saturday, Bishop Robert Paterson (Chair of the Central Readers' Council) came all the way from the Isle of Man to lead three sessions on the place of Readers in the church today. There were many opportunities for discussions, both in group sessions and over a delicious buffet lunch.

We are extremely grateful to Bishop Robert for sharing his quite radical views on Reader Ministry!

There are some photos from the Conference below.

Conference 2009 Report

Around 65 Readers gathered for the annual AGM and Conference at Offa House on June 19th and 20th. drawn no doubt by the promise of an excellent speaker. Canon Dr Christina Baxter, Principal of St John's Theological College, Nottingham, is herself a Reader. She spoke on 'The Great Commission - a Response' on Saturday afternoon.
Rev David Banbury got Friday evening off to a flying start with 'Ministry outside the comfort zone', some hilarious (and some poignant) stories from his time in Iraq as a chaplain with the Territorial Army. And on Saturday, Chris' brother Mike Elliot spoke on 'When faith is tested'.

Here is a selection of photos from the two days.
