Coast to Coast – the hard way!
Jem and Livy Wardle are doing a sponsored cycle ride from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, starting on March 28th, and taking 4 days to cycle 150 miles. Their route is just about the most challenging it could possibly be: from Whitehaven to Sunderland, via Lake District hills, the Pennines, and the North York Moors.
They aim to raise money for PLAN INTERNATIONAL, a charity which for 75 years has been helping families and communities in the poorest countries make lasting improvements to the lives of their children through education, healthcare, clean drinking water and more. Children themselves are encouraged to take part in decision-making.
Olivia sponsors, through PLAN, a child in Kenya, where many families live on less than £1 per day, and schools are often poorly resourced. So she and her brother plan to raise money to build 6 new classrooms, and equip them with desks and chairs, blackboards, and educational games and books! That is some shopping list!
During the summer the Wardle family will be going out to Kenya for a holiday, but also to see what a difference the money will be making.
To sponsor them or donate, please go to their page on the Justgiving website:
