Magazine for December 2010

Christingle

This will be as usual on Christmas Eve at 4 pm. Your shopping will be done, and it’s too early for bed!  Come early to get a good seat.

But there is much preparation to do, as we make 250 Christingles!   So we need the red tape put round 250 oranges, and  2 sultanas put on each of 1000 cocktail sticks (You can watch TV at the same time!)

Could you offer to do some of these?

Then we meet on Thursday December 23rd at 9.30 am to assemble it all. Many hands make light work, and we hope to have the Christingles completed in an hour, so please come to the “assembly line” in the lounge at church.

All proceeds from the Christingles go to The Children’s Society. This is a church charity, and one of the projects  is working with modern-day Oliver Twists on the streets of Coventry. In conjunction with Coventry City Council, Police and Social Services refer these runaways, usually subjects of abuse, to the Children’s Society.
But we heard bad news recently: that Coventry CC is cutting back funding and one project worker has had to be laid off.

Please pray for this situation, for abused children at Christmas, give as generously as you can and help prepare Christingles. For more information contact Ruth Smith
