Magazine: The Bishop of Coventry

Bishop Christopher

Bishop Christopher

Our new Bishop hit the ground running – or rather cycling! Before his installation he had wanted to complete a four day, 30 mile-a-day tour of the more rural parts of the Diocese. We suspect that, coming from the flatness of Cambridge, he rather underestimated our Warwickshire hills! After all we are on the watershed of England.

Unfortunately he became ill – he had caught a virus, and was not able to complete his cycling. The nearest he got to us was Radford Semele, where he visited the ruins of St. Nicholas Church.

Still fighting the virus he attended his installation on 1st November and during the service came down into the nave to meet and talk to representatives of the various councils of Coventry and Warwickshire, of the universities, of the police and of other denominations and faiths.

Then on November 3rd, still feeling ill, he ran a study day for the clergy of the diocese!
