100 not out!
Our congratulations to Mrs Edith Morgan, one of our parishioners, who celebrated – and I mean CELEBRATED – her 100th Birthday on April 29th. What a wonderful lady. She had five parties, and no small affairs at that; one involved 70 people, (family and a few close friends), and lasted an entire weekend at Mallory Court!
Edith lives at Abbeyfield House, in Northumberland Road, and almost every surface in her flatlet was covered with her birthday cards: over 120 of them at the last count.
She attends, and is very supportive of, our fortnightly “Church Service” there. Along with other Abbeyfield residents, Edith supports the work of the medical team who help Stefan in Romania to use his artificial limbs.
ABBEYFIELD HOUSE
The Abbeyfield Society is non-profit making, and has Very-Sheltered-Housing schemes in many towns. Here in Leamington there are nine flatlets, and the building and grounds are maintained to a high standard.
Residents have much independence, but two meals are prepared for them each day and served in the dining room.
Usually there is a waiting list, because it is very popular, but strangely, at the moment, there are four vacancies! If you know of someone who might benefit from this environment, phone 881677. Best times to ring are 10 am -1 pm and 4.30 -6 pm.
